Although classroom based these courses are learner focused, so after a brief explanation you get lots of opportunity to practice the skills taught. The skills encompass, chartwork, tidal calculations, weather forecast interpretation, practical navigation techniques and much more.

Courses vary from 2 days to 5 days in duration and can also be taken as evening classes throughout the winter. We offer;

The 2 day Coastal Navigation for Small Craft:

A great course for those just starting out and wanting to learn more about navigating the local area.

The 5 day (or 16 night) Day Skipper Theory:

Designed for those carrying out short day passages to areas with which they may be unfamiliar. Some practical experience is recommended.

The 5 day (or 16 night) Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore Theory:

Encompassing all the skills required for longer coastal and offshore passages by day and night, previous boating experience is required.
